Australasia

Australasia, also known as Oceania, is the most frequently visited continent by gap travellers. Most go straight to Australia, often stopping off in South East Asia first.

australia-gap-travelAustralasia includes New Zealand, the Cook Islands and several other island groups, such as the Solomon Islands. For gap travel discussions we also include Fiji in Australasia.

Gap Travel Australia

A typical gap travel plan is to visit Australia for several months at the start of a gap year trip. Here you can work legally and help pay your way while enjoying an amazing gapper lifestyle! Many gap travellers then move on to New Zealand for a few weeks touring round and enjoying the many adventurous activities there. Some gappers continue through Samoa, or the Cook Islands, but most on a gap travel trip head on to Fiji, where a few weeks simply chilling on the superb islands is brilliant relaxation.
